Green Energy

Board Preview Video
Here we introduce some of the aspects of green energy. By that we means ways of generating electricity that are environmently friendly and we see alot of here in Orkney. That's producing electricity with wind turbines, solar panels and even from hydrogen.

Currently we only have three parts and five boards to this section, but we have other boards under construction to increase to explain more.

Maths expectations:

WE01

Board GE01Board GE01 Board GE01 Solar and Turbine Power Matching
We have 3 boards here, one with a solar panel, one with a mini-wind turbine with the third board measuring the power we are getting from the first two. .

Explained: maximum power, turbines, dummy load, watts, power resistors, heat sinks.

WE02

Board GE02 Creating Hydrogen by Electrolysis
On this we can see hydrogen being produced in three seperate tank. In one is just water, but the other two contain different solutions of salt water. We can see the current is used by each tank and the amount of hydrogen produced. .

Explained: electrolysis, electrolyte.

GE03

Board GE03 Hydrogen Fuel Cell
Here we create hydrogen from electricity, where after storing it we then create electricity from the hydrogen.

Explained: Fuel cell, hydrogen storage.
