The Watt’s Electricity initiative aims to enthuse those wishing to explore the amazing world of electromagnetism (wires / batteries / magnets) and electronics using
47+
discovery boards. These have accompanying videos, tutorials and exercises. Our aim is to explain this scientific field in an easily understandable and accessible way. We have a specific focus on how green energy is generated.
No previous knowledge is required to start this journey where we guide explorers though this fascinating and mind-blowing world. We start right at the beginning with some games and the very basics and travel through to explain some of the complex electronic components found inside the gadgets that surround us.
The Watt’s Electricity learning resource is based around 47+ discovery boards. The concept behind their design is explained in our back story . The A4 sized boards contain working circuits that help explain a particular point. The 90+ volt/ammeters provide visual aids and makes it much easier to understand what is happening. Most boards have switchable options while others use plug-in banana leads to aid interaction.
At a workshop the boards offer a safe practical way to engage learners who are guided by videos and tutorials. However, the videos have been designed to be a useful online rsesource. Follow up actions are given to help extend and cement what has been discussed and are specifically designed for remote learners.

How to use the free online resource...
The Watt’s Electricity initiative has been designed so it can be useful online resource. Each board has a video and there are suggestions for follow-up actions to help cement the subjects explained. The resource is completely free but as there are films are on Youtube, so there may be adverts. As the films are marked Made for kids, the adverts will be age appropriate. Each board has a web page. The Video and Follow-up sections are designed to be useful for those following online. Only the Tutorial section is designed to be used at a workshop when you have access to the board.
